There are a few different pages which explain some basic feature of skins. More info pages will be made soon.

Here are a few examples of how sorting works for Marble Fade/Fade skins. Please also check out Pattern Offsets & Rotation page for more info on the values used for patterns.

Karambit Marble Fade

For example the Karambit Marble Fade, this skin has a set rotation value of the texture. Each seed has a random value between the range of -70 and -50. This means we can sort all seeds using this rotation value, and get an exact ranking of the best seeds. In the case of the marble fade, the Red/Blue (Fire & Ice) patterns are more desirable. It seems about 20% of the seeds (rotation < -66.0) have only Red/Blue which makes the patterns more rare. Using the sorted seed data we can figure out the ranking for these Fire & Ice patterns.

...

#1 Lowest Rotation

Karambit Marble Fade - Seed 412 (-64.996 rotation)
...

#200 Lowest Rotation

Karambit Marble Fade - Seed 535 (-66.076 rotation)
...

#200 Highest Rotation

Karambit Marble Fade - Seed 442 (-53.824 rotation)
...

#1 Highest Rotation

Karambit Marble Fade - Seed 763 (-50.013 rotation)

Other Fade Skins

For normal fade skins, other websites give you a "Fade Percentage" to show how the pattern is applied to the skin. The percentage they give you is in the range of 100% to 80%. I am not sure how they calculate this percentage or why it is in this range. Instead, on pattern.wiki you can see the rotation data value which is used by the game. This allows each seed to be sorted perfectly and allows all seeds to be ranked. The percentage system is also misleading because certain skins look good at all rotation values. This is personal preference, and we allow you to sort the seeds in either direction. In general the higher the rotation value fade skins are more highly desired as they show the most color.

Here is an example of the Karambit Fade minimum/maximum rotation values. Both could be good depending on what color you prefer. The survival knife and most fade skins show a gray area when the rotation is low as you can see by the example.
